Qualcomm is supplying its latest processor to a Samsung Electronics laptop as it targets the AI PC market. Qualcomm Technologies said on Sunday it has equipped Samsung’s new "Galaxy Book6 Edge" laptop with its next-generation "Snapdragon X2 Elite" processor.

The Snapdragon X2 Elite is designed based on a third-generation Qualcomm Oryon CPU and a Qualcomm Hexagon neural processing unit (NPU). It adopts heterogeneous computing that integrates the CPU, GPU and NPU into a single architecture. It supports 80 trillion AI operations per second, or 80 TOPS of performance. It also features power efficiency that maintains high performance even without a power supply.

The Galaxy Book6 Edge with the processor offers various on-device AI features. They include "AI Select," which handles image background removal, text translation, unit conversion and email sending at once, "Intelligent Search," which finds files, images and settings menus using natural language, and AI summary and translation functions based on Samsung Notes.

On the hardware side, it has a slim design weighing 1.55 kg and measuring 12.3 mm thick. The battery supports up to 22 hours of video playback. The display is a "Dynamic AMOLED 2X" touch panel, applying "Vision Booster" and anti-reflection technology so it can be used in various environments, including outdoors.

Kim Sang-pyo (김상표), head of Qualcomm Korea, said the Snapdragon X2 Elite is a next-generation PC platform that takes the premium AI PC experience to the next level based on strong AI performance and high power efficiency. He added that he hopes domestic consumers will directly experience the differentiated user experience of Snapdragon-based PCs through Samsung Electronics’ Galaxy Book6 Edge.
