Fortinet firewall and VPN hit in large-scale breach, stolen passwords abused
Tens of thousands of Fortinet firewalls and VPNs were hacked, TechCrunch reported on June 17, citing Hudson Rock and SOCRadar. The attack did not exploit an unknown new vulnerability, but relied on companies failing to change firewall passwords or check whether sensitive internet-exposed credentials had already been leaked. Hudson Rock said more than 73,000 unique Fortinet URLs were compromised, while SOCRadar estimated more than 30,000 affected devices.
