Kakao sets AI agent ethics framework from planning to operations

Kakao has created new AI ethics principles and an implementation framework to apply from service planning through operations as autonomous AI agents spread. The company unveiled the SPIRIT principles, the NORMA implementation method and related checklists at its if(kakao)26 developer conference in Yongin on Oct. 13. SPIRIT has six elements, including safety and privacy. Kakao plans to apply a new AI ethics checklist to services this year and strengthen checks for AI services aimed at children and teenagers.

South Korea sets AI research ethics guidelines for national R&D, final responsibility rests with researchers

South Korea has set ethical standards researchers must follow when using AI in national research and development, limiting AI to a research tool and placing responsibility and rights for final outputs on researchers. The Ministry of Science and ICT said it finalised the National R&D AI Research Ethics Guide after review and approval by the National Science and Technology Advisory Council’s steering committee. The guide includes seven recommendations and also sets standards for project evaluation and paper review processes.

Kakao to hold if(kakao)26 in October to unveil AI strategy

Kakao will hold its if(kakao)26 developer conference on Oct. 13-14 at its Kakao AI Campus in Yongin, Gyeonggi province, both online and offline. The event will share the company’s AI service strategy, development results and technical operating standards. Kakao plans to present directions for applying AI to existing services and set standards on AI safety and responsibility. It will also run about 50 technical sessions over two days.
