Tesla acknowledges remote operators can drive robotaxi when system reaches limits
Tesla has formally acknowledged that if its robotaxi self-driving system reaches its limits, a remote operator can directly drive the vehicle. In a letter to Senator Edward Markey, Tesla executive Karen Stakeley said a remote assistance operator can take control in rare cases as a final redundant safety measure. Documents say operators can assume temporary control when a vehicle is stopped or moving about 3.2 kph, and drive up to about 16 kph within software limits.
