Microsoft cuts management layers in Office and Teams overhaul for AI era

Microsoft is cutting management layers in its Office and Teams software groups and expanding in-office work for senior employees as it adapts to the AI era. Charles Lamanna, head of Copilot and agent platforms, reorganised Teams engineering so one manager oversees 12 contributors, with some managers shifting to individual contributor roles. Lamanna also took over Office and Teams from Ryan Roslansky, who plans to leave at year-end.
