MSIT to push AI-based research administration on IRIS, offer researcher recommendation service
South Korea\'s Ministry of Science and ICT said on March 11 it has secured grounds to 추진 AI-based research administration support services through a help desk run by the Personal Information Protection Commission to review privacy issues in public-sector AI transformation projects. The commission approved a prior adequacy review for IRIS AI recommendation services for evaluators and collaborative researchers, and prepared safeguards with the ministry to reduce privacy risks.

NIPA steps up national AI infrastructure expansion, adds 15,000 GPUs
South Korea\'s National IT Industry Promotion Agency (NIPA) said it will accelerate the expansion of national AI infrastructure this year by rolling out 92 support projects worth 3 trillion won. Plans include securing an additional 15,000 advanced GPUs, supporting the launch of a special-purpose company for a national AI computing centre, and expanding an independent AI foundation model programme. NIPA also outlined projects for physical AI, open-source software and startups.

NIA chief Hwang Jong-seong says public sector AX key to help AI top 3 goal
Hwang Jong-seong, president of the National Information Society Agency (NIA), says the agency will actively support AI-driven transformation across public institutions this year. In a New Year’s address, he says public-sector AX will be a decisive battleground and that AX at 331 public bodies will form the basis of national AI competitiveness. He says NIA will refine security standards and guidelines and expand AI education and support for vulnerable groups.
