IBK Industrial Bank of Korea selects 7 startups for innovation tech testbed
IBK Industrial Bank of Korea said on Feb. 24 it has selected 7 startups for the seventh cohort of its innovation technology testbed, IBK 1st LAB. The chosen firms include companies with artificial intelligence and data analytics capabilities such as Gwanak Research Institute, Psionic AI and Korea Deep Learning. They will conduct proof-of-concept work with bank departments, including automating relief for voice-phishing victims and improving AI household loan counselling and screening.

Chinese AI firms step up push as Korea sovereign foundation model drive enters new phase
Chinese tech firms are accelerating expansion in the AI market, with Baidu’s Ernie Assistant topping 200 million monthly active users and Kuaishou’s Kling AI reporting 12 million users and more than $20 million in monthly revenue. Alibaba unveiled a major update to its Qwen app. Startups also pressed ahead, including DeepSeek and Moonshot AI. In South Korea, a government-led foundation model project advanced three teams to the next stage and plans an additional selection.

Psionic AI partners with Dongkuk Systems to expand enterprise AI business
Enterprise generative AI solutions company Psionic AI said on Thursday it has signed a strategic partnership with Dongkuk Systems, a B2B IT services specialist in the Dongkuk Steel Group. Under the partnership, Psionic AI plans to supply its STORM enterprise generative AI platform to Dongkuk Systems’ customer companies across industries, including public and defense, finance and manufacturing. Executives from both companies said they expect the collaboration to support digital transformation and deliver productivity gains and cost reductions.
