US K-beauty sales surge 48 percent in a year as local retailers expand offerings
Korean beauty product sales are rising in the United States, drawing attention from local media. Korea’s Olive Young opened its first U.S. store in late May and recently launched a second in Century City, with more planned. The Pasadena store drew 6,000 visitors on opening weekend and now averages more than 1,600 a day. NielsenIQ data showed U.S. K-beauty sales reached $2.8 billion in early 2026, up about 48 percent year on year.

GM unveils mid-size electric off-roader concept Hummer X
General Motors has unveiled the GMC Hummer X, a mid-size electric off-road concept presented in SUV and pickup forms. Electrek reported the vehicle is not intended for mass production and serves as a platform to test new GM technologies. GM highlighted a low centre of gravity, instant acceleration and off-road hardware. The concept was designed in Pasadena, California, and includes a Hummer Hub app suite and a reconnaissance drone.

CJ Olive Young opens first U.S. offline store
CJ Olive Young is opening its first offline store in the United States and launching a U.S.-only online mall on the same day. The company said it will open the Olive Young Pasadena store on May 29 at 58 Colorado Boulevard in Pasadena, California. It aims to build a base to support Korean small and indie brands entering the U.S. market, offering about 5,000 items from about 400 beauty and wellness brands at launch.
