General Motors has unveiled the GMC Hummer X, a mid-size electric off-roader concept. Electrek, an electric vehicle outlet, reported on May 29 that the Hummer X was shown in SUV and pickup forms. It is not a model intended for mass production but a platform to test GM's new technologies.

GM said the Hummer X is a concept that newly showcases the off-road capability of mid-size electric vehicles. It highlighted a low centre of gravity, instant acceleration, removable fender flares and Multimatic shocks to emphasise performance on rough terrain.

The vehicle measures 188.3 inches in length, 80 inches in width and 72.9 inches in height, with a 116-inch wheelbase. It is similar in size to the four-door Ford Bronco. The four-door Bronco measures 189.4 inches long, 75.9 inches wide and 73 inches high, with a 116.1-inch wheelbase. Ground clearance is 13.1 inches, similar to the Bronco Raptor.

The Hummer X was conceived as a rock-crawling vehicle based on a modular platform. GM also presented a flexible production technology called Flex Fab for small-batch build-to-order production. GM said the method is similar to metal 3D printing and can enable faster production without separate press dies.

The interior was designed to allow customised configurations using stacked displays and digital technology. The Hummer X was designed by GM's Advanced Design Studio in Pasadena, California. It reflects a "Builder Maker" concept that allows users to modify vehicles and share them within a community.

It also includes an app suite called Hummer Hub that connects drivers and vehicles, as well as a reconnaissance drone to survey terrain ahead. The drone was designed to land and dock on its own.

GM said the Hummer X is not a concept aimed at mass production. The starting prices of the 2026 GMC Hummer EV pickup and SUV are below $100,000.
