Pakistan sets up dedicated unit to probe crypto crimes targeting money laundering, terror financing

Pakistan has set up a dedicated investigation unit to respond to crypto-related financial crimes such as money laundering and terror financing. The Federal Investigation Agency placed the unit under the newly launched National Command and Control Centre, which consolidates financial crime functions. While the unit investigates criminal misuse, the Pakistan Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority oversees market regulation and operator supervision. Pakistan is also reviewing exchange licensing, tokenisation and cross-border stablecoin use, while religious debate remains a variable.

CoinMENA partners with Standard Chartered to boost UAE fiat deposits and withdrawals

CoinMENA is partnering with Standard Chartered to strengthen fiat payment infrastructure for customers in the United Arab Emirates, Cointelegraph reported. Under the agreement, CoinMENA will receive support from the bank for fiat deposits and withdrawals, client funds accounts and transaction management infrastructure based on virtual accounts. CoinMENA said the structure would improve liquidity settlement with approved global counterparties and enhance transaction transparency.

Changpeng Zhao (창펑 자오), founder of Binance, urged governments to move stock markets and currencies onto blockchain networks. He said tokenising shares and issuing stablecoins linked to domestic currencies could reshape the financial system as traditional finance moves on-chain. Zhao said tokenised stocks could allow 24-hour trading, fractional investment and faster settlement. He also argued domestic-currency stablecoins could help preserve monetary sovereignty as digital payments expand.
