OZIN says searches for insect repellent and control surge amid summer bug spike
Consumer demand for insect-blocking and pest-control products is rising as summer pests spread, interior platform OZIN said on Tuesday. Searches for “bug blocking” over the past three weeks from June 1 to 21 surged 70 percent from the previous comparable period. Searches for pest-related keywords such as “bug repeller” and “bug extermination” also increased. The company also cited emergency pest-control operations by local governments and longer hot, humid weather.

Google plans release of 32 million AI-selected mosquitoes in Florida to test disease control
Google is seeking to conduct large-scale field trials in Florida using male mosquitoes carrying Wolbachia bacteria, selected with AI and automation, to reduce mosquito populations and curb the spread of diseases such as West Nile virus. Public EPA documents show its Debug project applied to release up to 32 million Wolbachia-treated male house mosquitoes in Florida and 32 million in California, with Florida releases split over two years. Public comments run until June 5.
