Capital market rules tighten as MyData programme expands
South Korean financial authorities are accelerating efforts to tighten capital market discipline, pledging tougher action against illegal practices aimed at avoiding delisting and pushing for timely exits of so-called zombie firms. Korea Exchange will introduce rules from July to delist penny stocks and raise standards for dealing with weak companies. Regulators also plan to curb duplicate listings and tighten reviews. Some decisions, including Hong Kong ELS fines and Samsung Securities approvals, remain delayed.

Hana Bank partners with Next Securities to strengthen foreign investment infrastructure
Hana Bank said it signed an agreement with Next Securities at its headquarters in Seoul to improve the domestic stock investment environment for overseas investors. The agreement covers FX transactions and custody services for foreign securities investment. The two firms will cooperate on real-time exchange-rate information sharing and trading via an FX API, custody for settlement at domestic exchanges, and applying real-time rates to overseas investors around the clock.

Finance service developers test Amazon AI coding tool Kiro to fix outages
Amazon Web Services on April 10 held an AI-focused hackathon for finance industry participants, AWS GameDay 2026 for financial companies. KakaoBank’s Kiki404 team won for a second straight year. The competition used scenario-based missions in a sandbox environment, including application outage recovery and modernising legacy Java code. Participants used Amazon Q Developer and Kiro. A total of 96 people from 24 financial firms took part.
