Nepal crypto trading rises despite ban; IMF urges faster regulation
The International Monetary Fund said crypto-related flows in Nepal have risen sharply despite a legal ban, and urged the country to strengthen oversight and build a regulatory framework. In an annual consultation report, the IMF flagged growing stablecoin and unsecured crypto flows from 2019 to 2024 and estimated significant cross-border activity. It called for rules aligned with international standards and urged Nepal to complete its FATF implementation plan and exit the grey list.

Danal, Shinhan Bank add ZaloPay for foreign students\' tuition payments
Danal has introduced Vietnam\'s ZaloPay to a tuition payment service for foreign students at South Korean universities with Shinhan Bank. The move expands payment options beyond WeChat Pay and PayPal, allowing Vietnamese students and parents to pay by QR code through Zalo or ZaloPay without visiting a bank branch. The service supports familiar payment methods and is operated in partnership with more than 94 universities.

China sells 13.2 million as global EV sales top 20 million and market reshapes
Global sales of plug-in hybrids and battery electric vehicles topped 20 million last year and accounted for 25 percent of new-car sales, the International Energy Agency said. China sold 13.2 million EVs, taking 53 percent of its new-car market, while Europe’s sales rose 30 percent to above 4 million. The United States lagged, with EV share below 10 percent. Emerging markets saw sales jump 80 percent, led by low-priced Chinese models.
