FSC to increase support for small merchants by over 1.5 trillion won, ease financing barriers for startups

South Korea\'s financial authorities will expand the supply of the \"Small Merchants The Dream Package\" to more than 12 trillion won from 10.5 trillion won. They will also lower financing barriers for early-stage startups and abolish joint guarantees applied to P-CBO support for small and medium-sized firms. The Financial Services Commission discussed the measures at a policy finance meeting at IBK Industrial Bank of Korea and said it will announce detailed revisions to the package later this month.

People Power Party to review timing of digital asset tax amid fairness issues after financial investment tax repeal

South Korea\'s People Power Party said it will re-examine the current digital asset tax framework, including the planned start in January 2027. It cited difficulty in accurately identifying investors\' acquisition costs and gains due to trading via overseas exchanges and personal wallets. The party also raised concerns about tax fairness between digital assets and stocks after the financial investment income tax was abolished. It called for clearer rules for staking and DeFi and alignment with the Digital Asset Basic Act under discussion in parliament.

Personal AI agent race is a battle for personal data, Axios says

Competition among startups and big tech over personal AI agents is intensifying, and OpenAI is expected to enter soon, Axios reported. OpenAI has hired a developer of the open-source agent tool OpenClaw to build a next-generation personal agent. Instinct offers access to users’ email, messages, screens, voice and location. SpaceXAI released Grok Bot in August, while Meta launched Muse in September and Apple revamped Siri around AI.
