SK On develops high-density single-crystal cathode material
SK On said it developed a high-density single-crystal cathode electrode with a Seoul National University research team led by Professor Ki-Seok Kang. The company said the work identified technical challenges in synthesising single-crystal cathode materials and proposed a new synthesis pathway, with results published in Nature Energy. SK On said tests showed reduced structural deformation and gas generation, and energy density reaching up to 77 percent of theoretical crystal density.
