Adults who usually slept 7 to 8 hours and delayed bedtime by about 90 minutes slept 78.4 minutes less on average and gained about 0.5 kg over six weeks. Researchers also saw more sedentary time and suggested mild but sustained sleep loss may affect weight, metabolic health and cardiovascular health.
