KIST Europe Research Institute marks 30th anniversary, unveils \'BRIDGE to YOU\' vision
The Korea Institute of Science and Technology\'s Europe Research Institute marked its 30th anniversary and unveiled a new vision to become a hub for Korea-Europe global research cooperation. It held a ceremony in Saarbruecken, Germany, attended by officials from KIST, the South Korean government and local German institutions. KIST President Oh Sang-rok received Saarland\'s Order of Merit. The institute announced the slogan \'BRIDGE to YOU\' and outlined plans to strengthen joint research, support business expansion and promote AI-based research innovation.

Sleeping 90 minutes later a day leads to 0.5 kg weight gain in six weeks, study says
Cutting sleep by about 80 minutes a night can lead to weight gain in six weeks, a study found. Adults who usually slept 7 to 8 hours and delayed bedtime by about 90 minutes slept 78.4 minutes less on average and gained about 0.5 kg over six weeks. Researchers also saw more sedentary time and suggested mild but sustained sleep loss may affect weight, metabolic health and cardiovascular health.

K-Moonshot project stumbles at start as AI scientist program director offers to resign
South Korea\'s K-Moonshot project, aimed at applying AI to science and technology to solve national challenges, faces an early setback after a mission program director offered to resign. The science ministry said the resignation came for personal reasons and is expected to be accepted after the deputy prime minister returns from an overseas trip. The ministry plans to proceed without recruiting a successor and has outlined governance and conflict-of-interest controls for program directors.
