Banks\' 4.9-day workweek spreads, accelerating revamp of branch operations

Banks are moving to adopt a 4.9-day workweek built around early Friday departures, a shift seen as reshaping branch operations and customer touchpoints beyond shorter hours. NH NongHyup Bank will move Friday closing time for staff to 5 p.m. from 6 p.m. from March 27 while maintaining counter hours. Other major banks have introduced or are likely to adopt the system, while expanding extended-hour formats and unmanned digital branches.
