The cryptocurrency market extended gains for a third day, with $1.24 billion of short positions liquidated over the past 24 hours. Dogecoin rose 10.11 percent to $0.0842 in 24 hours and is up 21.33 percent over the past week. It climbed from a low of $0.069 on Aug. 19 to an intraday high of $0.0857, while XRP, Zcash and Bitcoin Cash also surged.

BitBox hardware wallet urged to update after firmware security flaws found
BitBox, a hardware wallet widely used among bitcoin users, has fixed 2 major firmware flaws and users have been urged to update immediately. Dogecoin community figure Mishaboar called on BitBox users to upgrade their firmware after the company released its Dixence security update. BitBox said internal audits found and fixed several issues, warning that exploitation could allow installation of malicious firmware and theft of funds after unlocking the device.
