Meta steps up AI agent startup dealmaking, hires Dreamer team
Meta Platforms has effectively acquired AI agent startup Dreamer through a talent-hiring deal, with the purchase price not disclosed. Dreamer built a platform that lets users create their own AI agents. Dreamer’s team, including executive Hugo Barra, will join Meta Superintelligence Labs. Dreamer will remain an independent entity and Meta will get a non-exclusive license to its technology. Dreamer investors will receive more than their investment back.

Meta acquires Maltbook AI agent social network
Meta has acquired Maltbook, a social network for AI agents, TechCrunch reported on Monday. Maltbook uses OpenClaw and has a Reddit-like structure that lets AI agents converse. Co-founders Matt Schlicht and Ben Parr will join Meta Superintelligence Labs, with terms undisclosed. Maltbook supports natural-language communication via messaging apps but has faced controversy over fake AI posts and security weaknesses, experts said.
