Meta Platforms has effectively acquired AI agent startup Dreamer through a talent-hiring deal. The acquisition price was not disclosed.
SiliconANGLE, citing Bloomberg on March 23, reported that Dreamer developed a platform that allows users to create their own AI agents.
Dreamer’s team, including Hugo Barra (휴고 바라), a Meta executive, will join Meta Superintelligence Labs.
Under the terms of the deal, Dreamer will remain an independent entity and Meta will hold a non-exclusive license to Dreamer’s technology. Dreamer investors will receive more than their investment back, Bloomberg reported, citing a source.
Dreamer co-founder and CEO David Singleton (데이비드 싱글턴) confirmed the deal on social media platform X. Singleton also said he personally demonstrated Dreamer’s technology to Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg (마크 저커버그) earlier this year.
Meta has recently become increasingly aggressive in investing in AI agents. In December last year, it announced it would acquire startup Manus for $2 billion. Manus developed an autonomous agent that uses a web browser to handle tasks such as booking hotels and restaurants. Meta has also recently acquired startup Maltbook, which operates a social media network dedicated to AI agents.
