MSIT opens AI-SW Maestro Busan centre
South Korea\'s Ministry of Science and ICT said it held an opening ceremony on Aug. 12 for the AI-SW Maestro Busan centre, a hub for training AI and software talent in the southeast. The AI-SW Maestro programme, launched in 2010, has produced 2,096 trainees and 149 startups. The ministry said it set up the centre this year to expand education infrastructure beyond the capital region and support AI transformation.

South Korea begins full-scale development of agentic AI
South Korea will invest 18 billion won to develop core technologies for agentic AI that can set goals, make judgments and act without human intervention. The Ministry of Science and ICT and the Institute of Information & Communications Technology Planning & Evaluation launched the project on Wednesday in Seoul. The programme targets reducing human involvement to 10 percent or less and enabling autonomous planning and execution of complex tasks.

AI, software Maestro 17th class begins formal training
South Korea\'s Ministry of Science and ICT has started the 17th AI·SW Maestro training programme to foster advanced talent in artificial intelligence and software. The ministry held a launch ceremony in Seoul with the Institute for Information & Communications Technology Planning & Evaluation and the Federation of Korean Information Industries. A new Busan centre was established this year. Trainees will develop service-level projects over six months with mentoring.
