Glass substrates gain as AI chips grow; Planoptik targets South Korea supply chain
As AI semiconductor chips grow larger, limits of plastic PCB substrates are becoming more apparent because heat-induced warpage worsens with size, opening room for glass substrates. German specialist Planoptik AG is targeting the South Korean market via the EU Business Hub during Semicon Korea 2026. A company executive cited demand for glass cores and Planoptik’s long experience in glass processing, saying glass offers chemical resistance, heat stability and long-term property retention.
