BMW iX5 to launch this summer with 144 kWh battery
BMW plans to equip its iX5 electric SUV, due to launch this summer, with a 144 kWh battery. The usable capacity for the U.S. iX5 xDrive60 is set at 144 kWh, while the European model is about 141 kWh, making it BMW’s largest battery among current EVs. BMW has not disclosed official range. The company is also updating suspension and using cell-to-pack technology, while testing in Spartanburg, South Carolina.

Tesla\'s robotaxi-only Cybercab has recorded the highest power efficiency among disclosed electric vehicles, with an officially certified 165 Wh/mi, according to a report. Industry watchers say it is hard to compare the two-seat, steering wheel-free vehicle with regular passenger EVs. They say the efficiency could improve robotaxi economics by cutting energy and battery costs, but scaling production and achieving fully unsupervised self-driving remain unresolved.
