One month after SPC launches SMDH holding company, major fire undercuts safety push
SPC Group has marked one month since launching holding company Sangmidang Holdings (SMDH) to strengthen accountable management and safety. A major fire at its Siheung plant has put SPC’s safety management back under scrutiny, especially as the same site saw a fatal machinery accident last May. Fire authorities said 3 of 12 workers inhaled smoke and suffered minor injuries. The plant shutdown disrupted B2B supply, though production shifted to other facilities and supply resumed on Feb. 5.

Lotte GRS opens first Lotteria outlet at Singapore\'s Changi Airport
Lotte GRS said on Feb. 11 it opened Lotteria’s first outlet in Singapore on Feb. 10 at Jewel Changi Airport, marking the brand’s seventh overseas market. The store is on the B1 level of the complex shopping mall and is designed for about 60 seats. It offers the same burger lineup as in South Korea, including signature items and Korean-style reinterpretations such as the kimchi bulgogi burger.

Lotte chairman Shin Dong-bin urges use of AI to lead change
Lotte Group Chairman Shin Dong-bin on Thursday urged employees to pursue growth and innovation, saying this year’s business environment demands structural improvement in the group’s core businesses. He cited high inflation, high interest rates and a weak currency, as well as geopolitical risks and demographic change. Shin called for differentiated results based on autonomy and proactive responses to change, including embedding AI as a key competitive strength. He also said innovation has not yet produced visible results and urged stronger execution.
