Valve\'s next-generation handheld gaming PC, the Steam Deck 2, will need broad improvements to stay competitive in 2027, including its display, performance, price, control durability and battery, an analysis said. As rivals move to higher resolutions and refresh rates, the Steam Deck 2 is expected to support at least 1080p and 120Hz. It should also improve power efficiency, maintain sub-$1,000 pricing for key models, adopt more durable sticks and expand battery capacity.

The Verge cited higher memory and storage costs, tariffs and higher oil prices. As prices climb, the market is shifting toward higher-priced, discretionary hobby devices.
