Omnichain stablecoin USDT0 expands to Tempo blockchain

Omnichain stablecoin USDT0 will expand to Tempo, a payments-focused layer 1 blockchain jointly developed by Stripe and Paradigm, The Block reported on March 26. USDT0 is an omnichain version of USDT. Issued using LayerZero’s omnichain fungible token standard, it is pegged 1:1 with USDT and can move between networks without a separate bridge via a lock-and-mint and burn mechanism.

Tether makes strategic investment in LayerZero Labs

Tether has made a strategic investment in LayerZero Labs to bolster support for interchain technology, The Block reported on Feb. 10. The investment amount was not disclosed. The LayerZero interoperability protocol was used to develop Tether’s omni-chain stablecoin USDT0, allowing cross-chain transactions on chains where USDT is not issued. Tether said USDT0 has recorded more than $70 billion in cross-chain value transfers since its launch in early 2025.
