LGU+ to triple long-term customer invitation events next year to 24 a year

LGU+ will triple its invitation programs for long-term customers next year to 24 events a year, moving beyond discount-focused benefits and strengthening experience-based programs reflecting customer preferences. The plan follows analysis of about 32,000 pieces of feedback, with 46.9 percent of membership-related comments calling for special treatment for long-term use. LGU+ also plans to expand online programs and segment membership benefits by customer interests.

Govt seeks remote update after lawmakers warn of LGU+ subscriber number exposure risk

South Korea\'s government is pursuing automatic remote updates alongside USIM replacements after concerns that LGU+\'s International Mobile Subscriber Identity (IMSI) directly contains subscriber phone numbers, raising privacy exposure risks. Lawmaker Cho Kyung-tae said LGU+ differs from SK Telecom and KT in how it generates IMSI and said only about 30 percent of users have replaced USIM cards. Vice Prime Minister Bae Kyung-hoon said the remote update is due to start on Oct. 20.

Korea telecom regulator improves mobile service cancellation procedures, allows chat and app requests

South Korea\'s Broadcast Media Communications Commission on Thursday announced measures to improve mobile service cancellation procedures, including allowing cancellations via agent chat and adding cancellation request functions to mobile apps. The plan also includes allowing cancellation before paying overdue bills, improving website menu access, standardising guidance for cancellation procedures and billing statement details, and providing text files of recorded cancellation consultations upon request. Carriers plan implementation within the third quarter.
