Jiran Jigyo Data joins transportation card synthetic data release project
Jiran Jigyo Data, a data protection company, said on Feb. 12 it participated in the “Transportation Card Synthetic Data Release Project” promoted by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, the Korea Transportation Safety Authority and the National Information Society Agency. The project uses synthetic data technology to open transportation card usage records to support improvements in public and private transit services and help shape urban transport policy. The company said it built synthetic data that maintains statistical characteristics while removing identifiable information.

Autonomous A2Z begins autonomous driverless taxi pilot in Japan
Autonomous A2Z has begun a pilot of an autonomous taxi service in Naruto, Tokushima Prefecture, providing its technology to a project jointly led by Tokushima, NEC and Denno Kotsu. The test runs until March 31 on public roads in western Naruto using a Hyundai Motor Ioniq 5 equipped with a Level 4 autonomous driving system. The service is free on set routes with 27 stops and operates daily from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Song Kyung-hee to step up field visits as privacy watchdog shifts to prevention
Song Kyung-hee, chair of South Korea\'s Personal Information Protection Commission, will step up on-site visits to help settle new privacy systems as the commission shifts its policy focus from post-incident sanctions to prevention in 2026. Song started the initiative on Jan. 13 with a visit to the Korea Social Security Information Service and a meeting with public-agency chief privacy officers. The commission plans rule changes to strengthen CEO accountability and CPO authority.
