FSC names 7 SME-focused brokerages to strengthen venture capital supply
South Korea\'s Financial Services Commission has designated seven securities firms as its sixth group of SME-focused financial investment companies to support funding for small and venture firms. The designation runs from July 10, 2026 to July 9, 2029. The FSC said it screened firms more strictly, focusing on capabilities and effects, and noted that designated firms have provided 17.9 trillion won in support over about 10 years.

FSC urges securities sector to restore core functions, discusses expanding risk capital supply
South Korea’s Financial Services Commission held a consultative body meeting with comprehensive investment finance companies, SME-focused brokerages and policy lenders to discuss ways to strengthen risk-capital supply, improve related rules and support exit markets. The FSC said seven firms with risk-capital obligations supplied 99 trillion won in the first quarter, up 20 trillion won from the previous quarter. It also outlined plans to expand SME-focused brokerage designations, incentives and evaluation rules, build an intermediation platform and step up oversight of leverage investment risks.

Korea Exchange delays launch of pre- and after-market to Sept 14
Korea Exchange on Tuesday delayed the launch date for pre- and after-hours trading in the securities market to Sept. 14 from June 29, citing industry calls for more system development and testing. A planned mock market will run from April 6 to Sept. 13 for 23 weeks. The premarket closing time will move 10 minutes earlier to 7:50 a.m., while the 7 a.m. start remains unchanged.
