Kioxia ordered to pay $229 million in U.S. patent case after five-year dispute
Kioxia Holdings said its subsidiaries Kioxia and Kioxia America were ordered by a U.S. federal court in Texas to pay about $229 million in damages in a patent infringement lawsuit brought by satellite communications company Viasat. The ruling confirms a jury verdict. Kioxia Holdings said it cannot accept the claims and the ruling and will consider all legal options, including an appeal. It said the decision will not affect products and services for customers and that it has already booked a litigation provision.

Kioxia ships next-generation low-power memory samples, mass production nears
Japan\'s NAND flash maker Kioxia Holdings has begun shipping customer samples of next-generation memory for AI data centres, using advanced facilities at its Kitakami plant in Iwate prefecture. The product raises data processing speed by about 33 percent compared with existing products and improves power efficiency, the company said. Kioxia plans to enter mass production after customer evaluations and will expand output by adding equipment to unused production areas. It may also consider building a third manufacturing unit if demand rises more than expected.
