AMI Labs founded by Yann LeCun raises $1.03 billion to step up world model development
AMI Labs, founded by AI researcher Yann LeCun, has raised $1.03 billion to develop a “world model,” SiliconANGLE reported on March 10 local time. The round included Khosla Ventures, Greycroft, Hiro Capital and Bezos Expeditions, and also brought in Nvidia and Samsung Electronics. AMI Labs was valued at $3.5 billion. The company aims to analyse camera and sensor data and apply AI across industries, including robotics.

India AI chatbot race intensifies as Sarvam launches Indus app
Indian AI startup Sarvam has launched a conversational AI application called Indus, TechCrunch reported on Feb. 21 local time. The app runs on Sarvam’s 105-billion-parameter large language model, Sarvam 105B, and is available on the web and mobile. The beta is limited to users in India and supports text and voice queries and responses. Sarvam also announced enterprise AI solutions and hardware expansion plans.

Chinese AI firms step up push as Korea sovereign foundation model drive enters new phase
Chinese tech firms are accelerating expansion in the AI market, with Baidu’s Ernie Assistant topping 200 million monthly active users and Kuaishou’s Kling AI reporting 12 million users and more than $20 million in monthly revenue. Alibaba unveiled a major update to its Qwen app. Startups also pressed ahead, including DeepSeek and Moonshot AI. In South Korea, a government-led foundation model project advanced three teams to the next stage and plans an additional selection.
