Kakao Pay waives payment fees for new merchants to expand payments ecosystem
Kakao Pay will waive Kakao Pay Money payment fees in full for newly signed offline merchants that are small and medium-sized businesses through the end of this year. The program applies to businesses with annual sales of 500 million won or less that complete sign-up and screening from May 18 to June 30. Kakao Pay will also provide a marketing package, free payment kits, support for local currency and policy subsidy payments, and foreign tourist payments.

Naver Pay, Kakao Pay begin applications for second-round high oil price relief funds
Naver Pay and Kakao Pay have started accepting applications for the second round of high oil price relief funds. The programme targets 70 percent of the population and runs from May 18 to July 3. Naver Pay linked the process to Naver Search and maps and allows benefits to be received as Npay points, money or a prepaid money card. Kakao Pay enables applications via KakaoTalk and supports multiple payment methods. Both are running applicant events.

E-payment fees edge down, but price-cutting rivalry still limited
Payment fees charged by electronic financial service providers in South Korea fell slightly, but competition among operators to cut rates remains limited, a disclosure showed. The average payment fee rate for 18 providers from September to February was 1.98 percent for cards and 1.74 percent for prepaid. Differences were clearer for small merchants, with Kakao Pay applying the lowest card fee rate among three major simple payment firms.
