Kakao Pay said on Tuesday it has added a telecom carrier membership benefit analysis function to "Find my benefits with AI", a core feature of its generative AI service PayAi.

"Find my benefits with AI" analyzes a user's card spending performance and benefit conditions to recommend the most advantageous payment method at checkout. Kakao Pay has expanded the recommendation scope from financial areas such as cards and Kakao Pay Money to include telecom carrier memberships.

With the upgrade, PayAi analyzes membership information from the three major carriers — SK Telecom, KT and LG Uplus — together with card benefits. It proposes the maximum benefit combination available at payment. If users set their carrier information, they can then receive step-by-step guidance for each payment-related question on membership discounts and card statement discounts and reward benefits.

Kakao Pay plans to link external partner benefits starting with telecom carrier memberships to expand the feature into an integrated benefits service. It also plans to introduce a consumer report function.

A Kakao Pay official said, "This feature addition is part of the process of expanding into an AI service that connects daily benefits beyond payment method recommendations." The official added, "We will continue to expand features that can increase tangible benefits from the user’s perspective."
