KakaoPay wins science ministry award for senior digital finance education
KakaoPay has received a commendation from the minister of Science and ICT for contributing to efforts to narrow the digital information gap among seniors and promote an inclusive financial culture. The company said it won the award at a ceremony marking the 39th Information Culture Month in Seoul. Since 2023, it has run senior classes at 50 welfare centers nationwide, offering training on digital finance apps, credit management and fraud prevention.

Kakao expands senior AI education outside Seoul area to 70 percent
Kakao will expand senior-focused digital education by increasing the share of programmes outside the Seoul metropolitan area to 70 percent and adding artificial intelligence courses. Kakao Impact Foundation said it will run its 2026 travelling senior digital school for 3,000 people at 150 institutions, with 353 institutions applying. It will introduce AI training including ChatGPT for Kakao and run an AI Golden Bell programme linked to a science ministry competition.

Kakao signs AI education deal with education ministry and university council to expand Tech for Impact nationwide
Kakao’s corporate foundation, the Kakao Impact Foundation, said it will sign an MOU on Tuesday with South Korea’s Ministry of Education and the Korean Council for University Education to jointly push a project supporting the development of basic AI education courses for universities. The partners aim to expand the foundation’s Tech for Impact Campus program nationwide, raise AI fundamentals among students and broaden opportunities to 20 universities beyond the capital region.
