Korea Cable TV Association selects 16 outstanding local channel programmes for first and second quarters
The Korea Cable TV Association on Sept. 16 held its 67th awards ceremony for outstanding cable TV local channel programmes for the first and second quarters of 2026. It selected 16 winners from 93 finalists, including 8 news reports, 6 regular programmes and 2 specials. The winners covered issues such as disputes over power facility expansion, social isolation among the elderly, rental deposit fraud, housing polarization, sustainable tourism and the limits of a multi-member constituency system.

Broadcast Media and Communications Commission launches consultative body to boost pay-TV industry
South Korea\'s Broadcast Media and Communications Commission has launched a private-public consultative body to draw up measures to revitalise the pay-TV industry as growth stalls and profitability worsens. The commission held the first meeting in Seoul on Aug. 20 with pay-TV operators and the Korea Information Society Development Institute. The group will discuss deregulation, building an innovation base, supporting digital and AI transition, and creating a fair, co-prosperity environment, including content usage fee issues.

KT Skylife Q1 operating profit rises 16.2 percent on cost cuts
KT Skylife reported first-quarter consolidated revenue of 238.97 billion won and operating profit of 5.94 billion won. Revenue fell 1.6 percent from a year earlier, but operating profit rose 16.2 percent, helped by lower costs linked to sales. The company said weaker broadcasting and home shopping markets, lower content sales at KT ENA and the wind-down of KT HCN’s appliance instalment business weighed on revenue.
