KT HCN said on March 30 it won the grand prize in the video category at the 2025 KCJA Excellence in Reporting Awards selected by the Korea Cable TV Broadcasting Journalists Association (KCJA).
The winning entry was "Hope for People Standing on the Edge," produced by KT HCN reporters Dong-eun Kim (김동은) and Hwan Kim (김환). The report closely spotlighted a Dongjak District Office official who also works as a one-person civic group called the "SNS Suicide Prevention Monitoring Group." It followed the person’s efforts to connect people on the brink of life online to rescue support, capturing the meaning of suicide prevention.
KCJA said the work delivered a warm perspective and practical hope to people in crisis. It said the piece effectively conveyed a message encouraging public-interest action beyond simply delivering news, and that appropriate captions and varied visual presentation were impressive.
Hwan Kim, a KT HCN video journalist, said he filmed while walking around the site for about 2 hours to capture what he felt through interviews as much as possible, and prepared the report hoping it would offer a small comfort and help to those who are struggling.
