Tesla Optimus output up nearly 10-fold but hand assembly emerges as bottleneck

Tesla has lifted production of its humanoid robot Optimus by nearly 10-fold, but the hand assembly process has emerged as a key bottleneck as it scales up. Output has risen from dozens a week to hundreds, with a target of 1,000 a week by year-end and a long-term internal goal of 20,000. The Optimus V3 is built in Fremont, but broader commercialisation remains constrained by hand precision, durability, supply and assembly stability, and AI training levels.

Strategy halts bitcoin buying again, redeems $176.3 million of STRC

Strategy stopped buying bitcoin again a week after resuming purchases. It instead redeemed 1,810,885 shares of its STRC preferred stock for $176.3 million and doubled the limit for its digital credit securities repurchase programme to $2 billion from $1 billion. The company did not buy or sell bitcoin from Aug. 31 to Sept. 7 and kept holdings at 845,050 BTC. It said it has $5.1 billion in dollar reserves and $1.44 billion in cash.

Memory prices quadruple; iPhone 18 Pro prices seen rising up to 20 percent

Apple may raise prices of the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, due to be unveiled on Sept. 9, by up to 20 percent, as memory costs surge amid tightening supply tied to expanding AI data centres. TrendForce estimated memory costs for the 256GB iPhone 18 Pro could rise about 400 percent year on year, pushing overall component costs higher. TrendForce also flagged possible increases for non-Pro models and projected a high starting price for a first foldable iPhone.
