Sam Altman says AI side effects unavoidable, society must bear some
Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, said society should accept a certain level of side effects from artificial intelligence in light of the benefits it could bring. In an interview with Politico’s newsletter and podcast service “Decoded,” he highlighted differences with Anthropic over the strength of AI regulation. Altman said demands to guarantee there will be no hacking, misuse or fraud are unacceptable. He said he believes people will do more good than harm.
