SKT\'s Jeong Jae-heon says AI data centres will become irreplaceable foundation for South Korea
South Korea\'s public-private AIDC Alliance has officially launched to boost competitiveness in the AI data centre industry, with a plan to develop it into a new export sector by bringing together domestic technology, equipment and power and cooling solutions. SK Telecom CEO Jeong Jae-heon said the alliance\'s launch was meaningful as part of the government\'s three AI mega projects. He said hyperscale AI data centre construction would advance solutions and construction technology and create new export and industrialisation opportunities.

MSIT seeks participants for 2026 Autonomous Driving AI Challenge
South Korea\'s Ministry of Science and ICT is recruiting participants from July 1 to 31 for the 2026 Autonomous Driving AI Challenge, now in its third year. The contest provides training data built under a joint autonomous driving technology project involving multiple ministries and the National Police Agency, and evaluates the performance and suitability of participants\' AI algorithms. The main contest runs Aug. 10 to Sept. 23, with teams of 3 to 4 allowed up to five submissions.

Broadcast Media Telecommunications Committee to invest 72.7 billion won in broadcast media R&D over five years
South Korea’s Broadcast Media Telecommunications Committee said on Wednesday it selected 8 new projects under its Digital Media Innovation Technology Development programme. It plans to invest 72.7 billion won in broadcast media research and development through 2030, with 7.9 billion won to be provided for the new projects this year. The programme has 3 tracks covering intelligent media production, my-media platforms and AI agent technology for personalised services.
