Illinois to impose crypto transaction tax from 2027 as industry backlash spreads

CFTC sues New Mexico over effort to block Kalshi prediction market as jurisdiction fight spreads

The U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission has sued New Mexico over sports betting offered by prediction market Kalshi, The Block reported on Thursday. The agency filed the lawsuit in federal court against Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham and Attorney General Raul Torres. The case seeks to block the state from applying gaming laws and is the latest move by the CFTC to assert jurisdiction over prediction markets, particularly sports betting.

Dario Amodei says AI regulation needs enforcement, transparency alone not enough

Dario Amodei (다리오 아모데이), CEO of Anthropic, said on June 10 that AI regulation should shift from transparency disclosures to binding, enforceable rules. In an essay, he wrote that AI risks have clearly become real and that transparency laws alone are no longer sufficient.
