Infineon aims to reshape automotive chip ecosystem with RISC-V
Infineon Technologies is restructuring its automotive microcontroller business around a RISC-V-based MCU lineup, moving away from ARM-based designs. The company said adopting an open standard instruction set will strengthen OEM-led development and reduce supply-chain dependence risks. It unveiled a new AURIX RISC-V roadmap in Seoul, spanning entry-level to high-performance applications, alongside existing AURIX TC, TRAVEO and PSOC portfolios. Executives highlighted modular ISA benefits, safety and security, scalability, virtual prototyping and partnerships to speed customers’ time to market.

Hyundai AutoEver vehicle software test automation tool wins ISO 26262 certification
Hyundai AutoEver said on Jan. 26 that its mobilgene x-Studio has received ISO 26262 certification, an international standard for automotive functional safety. The company said the solution, developed in-house in 2023, supports automated safety validation for vehicle software. It said the tool automates verification across MIL, SIL and HIL environments. Hyundai AutoEver said this reduces working time by more than 50 percent compared with manual approaches.

SK hynix wins top functional safety rating for automotive DRAM
SK hynix said on Jan. 19 it has secured ISO 26262 ASIL-D certification for its LPDDR5X automotive DRAM. ASIL-D is the highest grade under the international functional safety standard and applies to systems directly related to human life. The company said the product meets performance, safety and reliability needs for ADAS, autonomous driving and in-vehicle infotainment, and incorporates fault notification, self-diagnosis and repair functions.
