Claudeforce raises question: Can vertical AI startups survive?
The launch of Claudeforce by Anthropic and Salesforce has intensified debate over who will win in AI-era software. Some argue incumbents controlling systems of record will stay ahead as customers connect Salesforce data directly to AI, reducing the need for new apps. Andreessen Horowitz partner Seema Amble says generic agents are separating interfaces from underlying systems, creating openings for vertical AI startups that outperform on specific tasks, build data assets and develop learning loops.

IRIS operations to move to KISTI; four R&D support systems to be integrated next year
Operations of the Inter-ministerial Integrated Research Support System, IRIS, will be transferred from the Korea Institute of S&T Planning and Evaluation to the Korea Institute of Science and Technology Information, the government said. The science ministry plans from next year to integrate four major research support systems, including IRIS, Ezbaro·RCMS and NTIS, and to introduce AI-based research administration support services. The transfer will proceed in stages through mid-next year.

Volvo withdraws EX90, ES90 lidar features, offers cash compensation to existing buyers
Volvo is halting development of lidar-based functions for its electric EX90 SUV and ES90 sedan and has begun compensating existing buyers. The vehicles have lidar hardware, but the related software features will not be released. Volvo has ended its partnership with supplier Luminar, a company spokesperson in Norway said. Compensation varies by country, including payments in Norway and cash-equivalent options in the United States, as well as refunds in Europe and Canada.
