Ioniq 5 holds ground in U.S. market despite loss of tax credit

Hyundai Motor’s Ioniq 5 sold more than 30,000 units in the United States through September, keeping sales relatively high among major electric vehicles despite a broader slowdown in EV demand. U.S. sales from January to September totalled 31,112 units, down 24 percent from a year earlier. Sales fell after a federal tax credit for new EVs ended in late September last year, although Hyundai cut prices on some 2026 Ioniq 5 trims.

U.S. EV charging stations shift toward rest-stop-style experience

Competition in the U.S. public electric vehicle charging market is shifting from the number of chargers to amenities and the user experience. Automaker joint venture IONNA is accelerating network expansion with its lounge-style Rechargery hubs. It operates about 1,000 charging bays at more than 100 sites and has contracted for additional bays, while targeting 30,000 ultra-fast charging points by 2030. Tesla and EVgo are also upgrading systems and deployment models.

KOSPI rises for first time in four sessions on semiconductor gains, nears 7,000

South Korea\'s benchmark KOSPI climbed nearly 2 percent on Wednesday, led by gains in heavyweight semiconductor stocks such as Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix. The index recovered from an early drop to the 6,700 level and finished around 6,900, closing up 133.31 points at 6,971.35. Institutions were net buyers, while individuals and foreigners sold. The KOSDAQ rose 4.48 percent. The won was little changed against the dollar.
