Korea Post strengthens cooperation with major countries to revive EMS volumes

Korea’s Postal Service said it will strengthen cooperation with postal operators in major countries to help restore international express mail (EMS) volumes and improve service quality. It said the head of the Postal Service attended the 2026 Kahala Posts Group CEO meeting in Hangzhou, China, and discussed steps to improve EMS quality and revitalise services. It said EMS dispatch volumes among member countries fell 10.1 percent in 2025 from 2024.

China adds 67 new unicorns in first half as AI, robots dominate

China produced 67 new unicorn companies in the first half of 2026, showing a rapid expansion in its tech startup ecosystem focused on artificial intelligence and robotics. More than 53 percent of new unicorns were in AI and robotics. Hangzhou-based AI startup DeepSeek drew attention after being valued at about 400 billion yuan in its first external fundraising. PitchBook data showed China accounted for 67 of 90 new unicorns globally in the period.

Alibaba Cloud starts first France data centre, builds third Europe hub

Alibaba Cloud has opened its first data centre in France, establishing its third European base after Germany and Britain. The facility, located in Paris, is intended to address rising demand for data sovereignty and local cloud services, the company said. Alibaba Cloud also plans to roll out agentic AI services across Europe in the second half of this year. The move comes as European firms and regulators put greater emphasis on keeping data stored domestically or within the region.
