Hitachi Vantara\'s U.S. Norman manufacturing site named WEF Lighthouse factory
HS Hyosung Information Systems said Hitachi Vantara\'s storage manufacturing facility in Norman, Oklahoma, has been selected as a World Economic Forum Lighthouse factory. Lighthouse factories are manufacturing sites that deliver innovative results in productivity, supply chain resilience and sustainability using technologies such as AI and robotics. HS Hyosung said the site runs an end-to-end digital manufacturing and supply chain hub and cut lead time by 77 percent and inventory by 50 percent by applying agentic AI.

Hitachi to roll out Claude to 290,000 employees in full AI alliance with Anthropic
Hitachi has signed a strategic partnership with Anthropic to introduce generative AI such as Claude across business processes for about 290,000 group employees. It plans to boost internal productivity while strengthening its HMAX by Hitachi social-infrastructure solutions. Hitachi will first apply AI internally as “Customer Zero” and then reflect its experience in customer offerings. The partners will also collaborate on cybersecurity and set up a global delivery organisation.

Nvidia and Hitachi are expanding the use of physical AI beyond robots to social infrastructure such as trains, power grids and factories, citing the need for higher precision and stronger verification than generative AI. Hitachi is strengthening its infrastructure AI business around HMAX by Hitachi. Executives described accuracy requirements in terms of “nines” and stressed safety risks from malfunctions. The companies highlighted phased development using training, simulation-based validation and deployment, as well as the growing use of synthetic data and the need for traceability and human override.
