Socar plans to set up a standalone unit for autonomous driving services, with Krafton joining as a strategic investor. SMEs ministry sets AI factory goal to drive manufacturing AX for small firms
South Korea\'s Ministry of SMEs and Startups has set building AI factories as a new policy goal to drive manufacturing innovation among small and medium-sized firms. Minister Han Sung-sook said smart factories should be upgraded into AI-autonomous plants, citing results such as lower defect rates and higher productivity. The ministry plans to standardise and expand collection of manufacturing data by 2030 and shift to package support combining grants, loans and guarantees.

Kakao Mobility joins industry ministry\'s AI Future Vehicle M.AX Alliance
Kakao Mobility joined the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy\'s AI Future Vehicle M.AX Alliance and will participate as an anchor company in the AI autonomous driving working group alongside HL Klemove. The company aims to help develop a Korea-style AI autonomous driving model, using physical AI capabilities built in autonomous driving, robots and digital twins. It also plans to build and open data and has conducted service trials in several cities.
