SoftBank unveils free Japan-focused generative AI Sarashina service

SoftBank has opened public access to its in-house generative AI, allowing anyone to try it for free. Users can log in with a Google account and use the service without prior registration, including chat, document drafting, web search and Japanese-English translation. Its subsidiary SB Intuitions released a free beta of the Sarashina service, based on a Japanese-language model. Developers can also access APIs to test six AI models in their own systems.

Google Play begins support for private vibe-coding apps built for personal use

Google has introduced a feature that lets users run Android apps they create for personal use through Google Play without making them public on the Play Store. Users can run the apps with a regular Google account while keeping them private and not visible in search or listings. The feature initially supports U.S. users aged 18 and over. Google plans to enable sharing with trusted contacts in coming months.

Snapdragon Summit 2026: Trying out Google Book for document writing and photo editing

Agentic AI appears set to spread faster, based on hands-on use of agentic AI PCs built into laptops and glasses. In demo rooms at Snapdragon Summit 2026 in Maui, Google Book opened apps and photos from a nearby smartphone directly on a laptop without using the cloud, while Gemini on XR glasses guided photo editing. Demos also showed cross-device continuity, peer-to-peer file access over Wi-Fi, standalone smart glasses operation, and an AI PC that drafts proposals and emails for final user approval.
