Codasip begins sale of low-end RISC-V design business, GlobalFoundries seen as top bidder

Chip design company Codasip is starting procedures to sell its low-end RISC-V processor core business used in embedded, automotive and industrial hardware, as it reshapes its business structure. A buyer has not been disclosed, but GlobalFoundries is cited by industry as a leading candidate. The deal also includes broad licensing for Codasip’s Studio development software. Codasip plans to strengthen a security-focused strategy centered on CHERI technology, and expects the transaction to close within about a month.
