China\'s Z.ai first-half revenue surges 400 percent as it shifts to cloud-focused model
Chinese AI company Z.ai said first-half revenue rose 400 percent from a year earlier to 953.89 million yuan, driven by cloud-based deployment and API business. The company posted a smaller overall loss of 2.07 billion yuan, while adjusted net loss widened to 1.96 billion yuan and R&D spending rose to 2.13 billion yuan. Cloud deployment revenue surged and its share of total revenue jumped, but gross margin fell as computing and inference costs weighed on profitability.

Tencent Hunyuan releases official Hy3, switches to Apache 2.0 license
Tencent has released the official version of its in-house large language model Hy3 under an Apache 2.0 license, VentureBeat reported on Sunday. Hy3 is a 295 billion-parameter mixture-of-experts model with 21 billion active parameters. A preview version in April excluded the European Union, Britain and South Korea from its license, but the official release removes that restriction. Tencent will offer Hy3 free for two weeks via OpenRouter.

Z.ai unveils GLM-5.2 trained with only Huawei chips, without Nvidia
Chinese AI company Z.ai, formerly Zhipu AI, unveiled its next-generation large language model GLM-5.2 trained without Nvidia chips, using only Huawei Ascend accelerators. Z.ai said the model delivered top-tier performance on coding and agent benchmarks, nearing Anthropic’s Claude Opus 4.8. It is distributed under the MIT licence without country restrictions, supports a 1 million-token context window and is priced below Claude Opus 4.8 for API use.
