EU keeps GDPR adequacy decision for South Korea
South Korea\'s Personal Information Protection Commission said on Thursday the European Commission has decided to keep its GDPR adequacy decision for South Korea. The decision follows the first review since the EU granted South Korea adequacy status in December 2021, the commission said. It said the European Commission assessed South Korea\'s privacy laws, oversight system and public-sector access to personal data, and concluded protections remain at a high level.

Hancom steps up development of Europe-style sovereign agentic OS
Hancom is accelerating development of a Europe-targeted sovereign agentic operating system through joint work with Polish partners. The company said it agreed on a cooperation agenda with Poland’s state-certified R&D centre 7Bulls and AI and IT firm Algomine. The agenda covers productisation and localisation, integration with legacy solutions, governance and responses to EU rules, and market cooperation and commercialisation. Hancom plans deployments centred on closed networks and on-premises environments.

OpenAI faces U.S. class action over alleged sharing of ChatGPT data with Meta and Google
OpenAI has been hit with a U.S. class action lawsuit over allegations it shared ChatGPT user data with Meta and Google. The complaint, filed in federal court in California, says OpenAI embedded tracking technology on the ChatGPT website without consumer consent and transmitted personal information externally. Plaintiffs seek monetary damages and an injunction. The case adds to other privacy disputes involving OpenAI and similar claims against other AI services.
